Martial Arts
Project Haven’s Martial Arts After-School Class operates three days a week from 4pm to 6pm during the academic school year. With Andre Harris, a Fitness - Nutrition Specialist and Martial Artist who has studied various forms for 20 years and ongoing, our class offers children an opportunity to develop self-confidence, physical fitness and self-discipline while learning and mastering Martial Arts.
Chess
Project Haven’s Chess After-School Class operates three days a week from 4pm to 6pm during the academic school year. With Alan Abrams, a retired veteran of the NYC School System as our chess Instructor, our class offers children an opportunity to develop the ability of strategic focus while learning and mastering the art of chess. Also, our participants further their knowledge and skills of chess through participation in local and national chess tournaments.
Dance
Project Haven’s Dance After-School Class operates three days a week from 4pm to 6pm during the academic school year. Instructor Janet Jimenez , infuses cultural and modern dance to promote leadership and expression, our class offers children an opportunity to develop the ability to step out their comfort zone. Project Haven's Dance class operates a yearly showcase to show the roots of the boogie down Bronx.
Latin Percussion
Project Haven’s Latin Percussion Class operates two days a week from 4pm to 6pm during the academic school year. Students learn to specialize and craft their skill in Latin percussion instruments such conags, bongos and djembes. Through specialization students also learn the history of how these instruments came to be a catalyst for music in Latin culture.
Fitness and Nutrition
Make exercise and nutrition a positive experience. Through Project Haven's program we inter-grade exercise and nutrition by designing activities specific to their ability levels and goals. Since youth can have different responses to exercise and nutrition we make it enjoyable.
Reverse the obesity trend. Our methods create solutions to obesity by helping youth and their parents adopt a healthier lifestyle with exercise and nutritional guidance.
